Catching up...

Two more stitcheries finished and two more to go to catch up...
I have had a productive week so far, I have almost finished piecing the blocks together on a scrap quilt. I made a wheatie for my sister who is pregnant with her third child, to help ease the pain in her back. (Gosh I am such a good sister)I have finished my first project for my stitchers angel. And started the disappearing 9 patch quilt. I will post photos when they're done.
I had great plans to spend the week in the garden, but the weather hasn't been co-operating, but it's just perfect for quilting;o)
Here's Georgie contemplating whether he really wants to go out or not?
Whoops, is that the time? I better scoot, supposed to meet up with a friend for a cuppa...

I have a problem...

I so want to start a disappearing 9 patch with these...

But first I really had to finish something to justify starting a new project...
So I have started and finished my peg apron this week:o)
I so did not like this striped fabric when I first saw it, but the colours match so perfectly(it does have a strip of blue, but you can't see it in the photo's) ...
Another stitchery completed...
And how cute is this almost finished evening bag...
I really have a problem(my DH would say I have more than one) with finishing projects, there are just too many things I just have to make!!!

We're going on an egg hunt...

I know it's not Easter, and unfortunately this post has nothing to do with chocolate;(
We live on a farm, and there is nothing better than free range farm fresh eggs, with golden yellow yolks. Yes I have a collection of chooks, real ones! But things seem to have gotten a bit out of hand, the story goes like this...
I started with three chooks, then a while ago a friend was shifting and couldn't take all her chooks so asked if I would like a couple, "Yes please" was my eager reply! Shifting day arrived and I ended up with 4 chooks and a rooster and 3 aforementioned chooks. 2 chooks unfortunately passed away leaving me with 5 chooks. Ok everbody with me? Then one chook became a Mummy chook to 12 chicks, and my were they cute!!! Some have flown the nest to live with a friend but all up I still have a rooster(maybe 2) and 10 chooks!!! My poor little chook shed isn't big enough to accomodate them all, so they have had free range of the farm, hence we have to go on an egg hunt...
The dog kennel...
The carshed...
and the stables...
I am sure there are other nests around that we haven't found, but not for much longer...
DH has taken it upon himself to build them all a new home, I'm sure it will be grand!

I can't seem to help myself...

Do you like to collect things? I do! Here's a few of my treasures...
My tin collection isn't just used for a decorative feature I actually use them!!!
I have tins dotted here, there and everywhere, don't you just adore the little nest of eggs(made by DS2)
I also collect blue and white china, unfortunately they are all packed away, I just don't have the room for them in the kitchen or in our little china cabinet. A hutch dresser would be just the thing don't you think?(hint hint!!)

I also collect odds and ends for my garden...
I can't wait for summer when the small flowering daisy will cascade over...(must remember to water it this time tho;)
My DH just couldn't understand why I made him drag this old farm gate home...
And who would want that rusty ole bucket with a hole in it! Oh and that rusty old bath that's sitting out in the paddock(I hope you are reading this honey!) I have a new home for that too!

And I collect teddy bears and baskets and... hmm, maybe that's a post for another day!

What do you collect?

Yummy Goodness...

I just happened to pop in to Cinnamon Lodge yesterday, I mean you don't go to town and miss a visit to your favourite quilt shop do you? While chatting I just happened to glance over and spotted something I just had to have! I got the last one...
Now I have both books Yipee!!!

There's lots of yummy goodness, maybe just maybe I might be able to cut into a jellyroll;)
Anyways I have been waiting for these April Cornell fat 1/4's to speak to me...
And yes they have spoken... Do you want to know what they said?
Well they said "This is what I want to be when I grow up"...
A TPQ(Taranaki Patchworker and Quilters) Newsletter arrived today, letting us know about up and coming workshops... there is a get together/workshop day, sounds like fun but it's on my daughters birthday:( but there is another workshop...
It's a Hand Applique Workshop, I have been wanting to learn needleturn applique!
I thought I would leave you with a few sayings from the newsletter...

Quilting is like a bank account. The more you put into it, the more interest you draw.

One yard of fabric, like one cookie is never enough.

Quilter's wacky definition "Spring Cleaning" is when you sort your stash and leave the housework alone.

Creative clutter is better than idle neatness.

A little bit of sunshine...

I thought I would share a few pics... sunrise view from my kitchen window...
DS2 picked me a lovely yellow poly this morning, how sweet...
Then I picked some lovely yellow lemons...
I bought some golden yellow backing fabric...
The finishing touch for this quilt...

Wishing you all a little bit of sunshine too!

What do hacky sacks, hay bales, and an evening bag have in common?

My fun weekend of course!
Three of my children have been asking to make hacky sacks for a while(a long while) and we finally did! Here's some in progress photo's...
Since it was such a lovely day we took a long break... the children went outside to play in the glorious sunshine and I spent some time making an evening bag(photo's in a future post).
And this is where the hay bales come in...
Michael took this next photo, we think it's fantastic. "Look Mum I can fly!"...
(Please don't use this photo for your own use)
After all the fun in the sun and a soak in the shower, we continued...
I wonder why it took me so long... they have had such fun with just 2 charm squares and a little bit of rice:) They are playing hacky sack tag as I write...

It's a beautiful day...

We are so over the cold wet weather and today we were blessed with such a beautiful day...

I am up to my fifth block, I didn't finish all of them by today but that's OK there's always tomorrow...
I had a strange message from my sister the other day, to say that Claire(owner of my favourite local quilt shop) wanted to see me, and for the life of me I couldn't think why. It was strange because my sister does not sew, she probably doesn't even have a needle and thread to mend with... so why would she be in the quilt shop talking to Claire! Well I was a bit slow, I didn't click at all, Duh! My lovely sister had bought me a belated birthday present!!! Thanks Sharon:)
A voucher of the best kind...
with a message no less, PS 'no boring stuff' apparently that means no threads, no steam a seam ie: no boring stuff...
I haven't spent my voucher yet, I'll save it for something special. I had already been shopping here this week anyway...
Sorry not the best photo;) Please don't tell my DH that the lower 4 fabrics are for my scrap quilt, I just don't think he will understand the need. The other fabric just called me, do you want to know what it said? Hmm maybe I will show you sometime in the future! Oh and some applique pins, I'm going to teach myself needleturn applique!

Wishing you all a beautiful day too...
