A Catch-up post for November and December KHS

Hello! The last couple of months have flown by in a whirl... there's been lot's happening in my little corner of the world I have so many photo's to share I decided to do collages... first up is KHS for November at Michelle's. Our challenge for November was to make something using a pack of Charm squares which we all have squirreled away. Claire was the only one who did anything, she actually made not one but two pretty table runners...

Michelle had started on a little Christmas decorating and I just love her blue hutch!

For December since it is always such a busy month for everyone we decided to just bring along a Christmas kit ornament to be completed for our next meeting in January so you will have to stay tuned until then... but I can share lot's of photo's of Claire's beautiful home all decked out for Christmas as her home was open for a day tour.

She did such an amazing job, as always!
I have also spent a good chunk of time out in the garden not that you would think so looking at all the weeds. We have had very little rain and things are drying out but boy do those weeds seem to be able to survive somehow!
I came home from Claire's so inspired I have started a new Christmas quilt, the blocks are almost done then to decide on some sashing and borders. I've also finished 2 UFO Christmas quilt tops which I think I'll quilt simply myself. We were so inspired at Claire's we have the whole of our challenges for next year planned out, all with a Christmas theme!

I hope to be back again sooner rather than later, wishing you all a Very Merry Christmas, stay safe.

xoxo

KHS for October

Wow,  the months are just flying by, November already how did that happen??? The days are finally warming up and it's so nice being able to get out in the garden and enjoy some much needed sunshine!

This month's KHS we visited Nicky in her lovely home...

Lunch was amazing, we had Thai Prawn Noodles and salad, followed by Ginger loaf and homemade icecream!

It was sooo good. Our challenge for this month was to make something out of a 'Homespun' magazine, I chose a Christmas quilt which I'll share as soon as I finish the applique... whenever that might be! Michelle (the other Michelle, affectionately known as Ussher) couldn't make it due to work commitments, not sure if she made anything or not. Claire made hers while we chatted after lunch, sorry no photo but it was a snowflake made out of buttons on a pretty doily and beautifully framed.
Nicky didn't make anything this time, but my Mum who sometimes joins us made this lovely crochet hoop...

Claire did have some show and tell for us though, she had made this beautiful neutral raggie quilt...

As we were chatting about next month's challenge we were inspired with lot's of new ideas and have the next 4 months all planned out! So for the month of November the challenge is to make something out of charm squares, it just so happens I have quite a little stash of them... surprise surprise 😉😉😉

So until next time, enjoy life one day at a time, take time to notice the little things, spend time with loved ones and have fun!

A finished quilt and a long weekend

Good morning, it's a lovely sunny Saturday here in the Naki, I plan to make the most of the long Labour weekend. As soon as this post is done I'm heading to town to visit garden centres and Spotlight, then home to work in the garden and enjoy the sunshine! First though here's some photo's of a quilt I made for my niece Hope. The photo's were rushed and didn't turn out as well as I'd hoped as this quilt was about to leave for a long journey to it's new home in Perth.

It was hard letting this one go, I wanted to keep it for myself! I wish I had better photo's, I will have to ask Hope to take some more for me.

Ok I better get myself moving before the day disappears!
Enjoy your day

KHS for September

Hello... yes I know it's October, I'm late yet again, we've been without internet for a couple of weeks but now it's back so I can finally share our KHS for September. This month's challenge was pincushions and oh my my Claire and Nicky's pincushions are so little! And fiddly! But so so cute!!!

Claire made this Hatched and Patched pincushion such tiny embroidery and applique!

Nicky made this gorgeous little piggy! Just look at those trotters!

Michelle Ussher unfortunately didn't find time to make one but she has been a busy girl running a dairy farm, during one of the wettest winter/springs that I can remember! I made a trio of pincushions and I think they turned out pretty cute too.

This month's host was Nancy, and we got to visit her in her new unit. She has got it looking fabulous.

And for lunch Claire ordered us all meals on wheels.

For October's challenge we have to make something out of a 'Homespun' magazine. I am a total nerd and started a project as soon as I got home from Nancy's let's just hope I can finish it before the 28th that's in just 2 weeks time eek! I hope to be back in a few days to share a quilt I made for a niece. Hugs xoxo

KHS for August...

Hello, it's me again. Don't the months just fly by I'm sure August was only just yesterday!
I thought it was high time to share a few of my favourite photo's from KHS at Claires.

This is the entrance into her beautiful home, on the opposite side is this gorgeous hutch...

Aren't the colours fabulous! And this quilt is one of my favourites...

A cute bag hanging on a door, sorry no photo of the room itself but it is full of goodies...

And isn't this pretty...

I have the Matryoshka quilt kit on the bed which I bought from Claire when she had her shop. I have actually completed the quilt top it just needs quilting. Here's another corner of the room...

Now for a little show and tell, Claire has been busy...

(Sorry about the photo Claire)

Aren't they lovely. Needless to say we had a great day full of food, fun and laughter.

Our next KHS day is at the end of September and after a couple of months of having no challenge projects we have decided this month to each make a pincushion and share the pattern with each other.

Until next time, whenever that might be...

KHS at Nicky's

One of my favourite things about our KHS (Kindred Hearts Stitching Group) is visiting each others homes. I always go home inspired, so I thought I would share a few of my favourite pics of Nicky's home...

Her home is full of treasures, I want to take both of these cabinets home!

Her cross stitches are amazing, don't you just love the frame...

A gorgeous mannequin...

And as always the food was amazing, but you're going to have to take my word for it because I was too busy munching to take a photo. Thanks Nicky! See you girls next month for a big birthday!

Saturday Sewing

Just added the binding to this pretty dresden quilt, I'm a little embarrassed to admit but this quilt has been sitting around for almost 3 years waiting for this binding to be added. Not the best quality photo today as the weather is a little grey...

This is the first time I've done a scalloped border and I'm really pleased with how it's turned out so far. It took a little longer than normal binding and I found rather than pinning it into position to hand baste the binding on first before sewing it with my machine really helped. I'll post more photo's when it's done! My friend Nicole and her daughter are coming for dinner tonight we're having a PJ party, I hope to get a start on hand sewing it down then.

I thought I would leave you with a photo my daughter Olivia took of Poppy about to give her kisses
