I’m back home again…

We arrived back home on Monday afternoon smack bang on three o’clock, just in time to pick up Miss Lolly from school and have been immersed in family life ever since… you know the drill, home and unpack do some washing, cook tea, catch up on what’s been happening, this is the first real chance I have had to blog about my weekend.

When I was exploring Hastings I drove past this gorgeous cottage and had to turn around and go back and take a photo… :OD I did a wee bit of shopping in Hastings(a gift for a friend and some maxwell and williams storage jars for me) Then I headed to Napier to our motel and got settled in.

I worked on the log cabin quilt(see previous post) for a couple of hours, before heading off to join the girls at Horse of the Year Show (HOYS) for the evenings entertainment.

The above photo is the line up of riders for the children and ponies steeple chase. If you would like to see more from HOYS head and over to my daughters’ blog HERE. Saturday morning I set out to find a quilt shop or two… JJ's Crafts and Patch and Quilt. It was a beautiful drive out in the country side to Patch and Quilt, I spent quite some time there chatting away to Rachel and looking at all the lovely fabrics I wanted… it goes without saying that some fabric come home with me! It was well after lunch time before I got back to the motel and finished sewing all the log cabin blocks. I just need to decide on a layout and sew them together. Once again I joined the girls at HOYS for the evening.

Sunday morning after I dropped the girls off I found a Farmers Market…

Just look at all these treasures…  afterwards I went back to the motel and worked on a baby quilt… it is almost done, had to get my quick un pick out several times though and I had had enough of this quilt by the time I had to pick the girls up later that afternoon. I hope to show photo’s of the finished top in the weekend.

I had to take a photo of this driveway… I wonder how old the trees are?

Sunday afternoon and evening Miss Ruffles and I did a little sightseeing together, while her friend visited family, it was a wonderful way to spend some one on one time together.

And all too soon it was Monday morning, time to pack back up and head for home… it has been stormy and windy again since we arrived home, we lost power again Tuesday morning and thankfully it came back on in the afternoon so we could milk. We even lit the fire last night for the first time… way to early if you ask me.

Ok that’s it for now…enjoy the rest of your week.

Michelle
