Whirlwind Weekend Part 2

After church on Sunday I drove to New Plymouth to pick up my Mum and Aunty Colleen before heading to TPQ’s(Taranaki Patchwork and Quilting) annual Quilt Exhibition.

There were so many lovely quilts, these are just a few of my favourites…100_6635 (935 x 702)100_6642 (935 x 702)100_6640 (935 x 702)The background was black and white log cabins then the appliquéd flowers, the centre of the flowers themselves were embroidered with all sorts of patterns swirls and beads, very stunning!

The photo’s really don’t do much for this quilt you will just have to take my word for it that it was beautiful!100_6653 (935 x 702)My Mum and Aunty Colleen were not at all keen to have their photo’s taken but I managed to sneak this one of Aunty Colleen*smile*100_6637 (702 x 934)This is the Challenge quilt winners, it was a group project and each person in the group had to try a new technique. Another stunning quilt!   100_6650 (702 x 935)I really like the colours in this ‘Breast of Friends’ quilt.  The next 2 quilts were pieced by 11 year old, Dayna Schuler and quilted by her Nana.100_6645 (702 x 935)100_6643 (702 x 935)After the quilt show we visited a couple of gardens, but I didn’t take any photo’s as I was feeling a bit weary by this stage.

We settled in at the Beach House Cafe, a girls day out wouldn’t have been complete without an iced coffee or two!

And of course I did a little shopping but that will have to wait for another post.
