It's finished...

It's finished, well at least the shelves are done...
I had a bit of trouble trying to decide which colours to go where, some could have gone in several different colour groups...
Now that they are all stacked nice and neat it doesn't look as much as I thought I had so yesterday my DD1 and I took a drive to Wanganui to get my sewing machine serviced and did a little shopping...

Slow Work In Progress

I have been shopping and found some small bookcases, which were on special! So the task to sort out my fabric cupboard has begun...
Going through my stash I was thinking Oh yeah I was going to make that, Oh dear why did I buy that and Oh I forgot that I had that... It's almost as good as retail therapy LOL
DH, DD1 and DS1 have gone to Wanganui for the day on a Youth trip(DH is youth leader and a big kid LOL) So this afternoon, after all the housework(yuk) is up to date, guess where I'm headed?

Here are some photos of more finished projects and the Big Kid...

April Cornell chinese coin quilt... This one's mine!
A quilt I made for my Mum a couple of years ago...

These photos don't really do it justice! The colours weren't really me but by the time I finished it I didn't want to give it away... Enjoy your day!

About time...

I have had enough of searching through plastic boxes to find the piece of fabric I just know is in there somewhere... so I am off to find some suitable shelving so I can see it at a glance...

And maybe a bookcase...

Did you see my quilting frame(Swiftquilter) sneaking itself into one of the above pictures, it has been feeling a little left out and unwelcome since it's come to live at my house. DH bought it for me for Christmas(was that really 6 months ago) along with the Juki machine, I have only practised on it so far as there was a problem with one of the little black boxes(loose wire) and it would stop and start again leaving big stitches behind(not pretty at all) DH has fixed the problem with a new little black box:)

I have been focusing on getting a few UFO's finished, so I actually have something to quilt!
Here is a photo of some strips I decided to just piece together as another practice quilt...

A UFO...

Another UFO, or should I say WIP now...

Seeing is believing...

13!! How did he grow so fast? Where did all those years go?
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MICHAEL!

Would you believe me if I said that our kitten Georgie liked riding our horse Poppy...
I just had to share these photos with you, quite often my daughter Ruth will put Georgie on Poppy's back, but yesterday Georgie jumped up on the fence and onto Poppy's head, down her neck and curled up on her rump!! My daughter seems to have a way with animals, Poppy has even fallen alseep with her head in Ruths lap! Should I mention that Red one of our chooks gets on really well with Pebbles our Dalmation lately she has been spending the night in the dog kennel(I have yet to get a photo of that one)

My very own Show and Tell...

I really haven't got a lot to show for this week so I thought I'd share a few pictures of some completed projects...

My sewing machine cover...

My pretty bag...
A bag I made for a raffle using scraps, I really like the colours in this one...

My first applique project...

A door stopper made from scraps...
My teapot wall hanging...

My hexagon runner...

A prayer quilt, each family in our church had an opportunity to make a block and prayer over it. The quilt was made for a Pastor and his family after a terrible car accident. Bro Gary was not expected to live, with injuries to numerous to mention... he has defied the doctors diagnosis again and again...

A couple of the blocks...

A bag made by me to carry the quilt around in...

Road Trip

Our road trip didn't take us up Mt Taranaki but instead we travelled East along the Forgotten World Highway...

The only Kiwi(native to New Zealand) we saw was this one, they are a nocturnal bird, shy and indangered...

I love autumn, the colours are stunning...

We meandered away round bend and turns, through several tunnels...

We drove through a small village steeped in history, like driving through another era...

On and on we travelled...

Finally we arrived at our destination, we bundled up for the 20 minute walk... Mt Damper Falls, it was actually raining:)

Homeward bound, we just had to stop and take a photo of these...
Hope you enjoyed the little scenic tour, alas there where no quilt shops on this road trip but tonight is the Cinnamon Lodge(my favourite shop) quilting group...
