Pure Excitement…

Here’s an update of what I achieved last Friday, the coasters for my friends housewarming gift…

106_6341 (708 x 532)

We are going there for her daughters birthday on Saturday so I can give them to her then!

I almost finished the top for my table runner…

106_6358 (708 x 532)

But then I had to deal with a sick cat and a very upset little girl(lot’s of hugs were needed)… Georgie (the cat) is on the mend again now after spending several nights at the vets, he was diagnosed with crystals in his bladder(I think I got that right) and has to go on a diet of specially prescribed cat food for a whole month! I sure don’t want to see the vet bill when it comes.

I also got the backing pieced for two quilts, so they are ready to take to the LAQ.

And now for the exciting bit…

106_6350 (708 x 532)

Look what has arrived already…

106_6352 (708 x 532) 106_6353 (708 x 532)

Yup it’s the fabric for Jack’s baby quilt, I wish I had bought one for me too!

But wait what’s that? Look what else they sent…

106_6356 (532 x 708)

Oh my, I guess my fingers must have slipped when I ordered the jellyroll;oD Will have to make a cuppa and curl up with it later!

Well after 2 days of lovely weather it’s raining again, I had great plans to get out in the garden today, it’s such a shame. I think I’ll just have to make a start on the baby quilt instead…

Better late than never…

Better late than never or so they saying goes…  Last Friday Night I missed out on the Friday Night Sew-In because I was babysitting 3 of my gorgeous nieces(that’s what my sister wanted for her birthday gift this year) hence no sewing! Today my hubby and DD1 left for a horse show in Feilding and I decided my other 3 children can fend for themselves for an evening, I’ll buy them tea to make up for it though! *grin*

So I thought I would share what I plan to work on…

100_6327 (708 x 532)

I want to piece 2 backings for quilts I can’t show yet and work on this table runner project…100_6337 (708 x 532)I also plan to make some coasters for a friend as a house warming gift(the house warming was last Sunday!)

I plan to order some fabrics to make this quilt…

My nephew and his partner had a baby boy this morning! Little Jack Singfield. We hope to go visit tomorrow:oD I spotted this pattern the other day and thought it would be perfect. It’s cute and simple and shouldn’t take me too long!

I know someone else is making him a quilt too, but I’m sure they won’t mind having two quilts.

And if I get time I want to start a new project ;o) with these…

100_6329 (708 x 532) I’m picturing a log cabin, what do you think?

I do have plenty more to add to this list but I think this will do for  now.

Have a great weekend!

Ducks, UFO’s and…

100_6267 (708 x 532)

Aren’t these ducklings cute, I spotted them the other day as I went to feed the pigs. It has certainly been great weather for ducks around here lately, with all the rain we’ve had they have an abundance of puddles to swim in! The wind has been racking havoc too, I could only watch as our trampoline flew up and over the fence narrowly messing our house!

Earlier this evening I decided to pull out an old UFO, as I was rummaging through my UFO box I began to get more and more discouraged, I have so many UFO’s(I daren’t count them) and I have so many projects I want to start. I know I really should finish some of those UFO’s first, so I am going to try baby steps and finish at least 2 projects before I start something else. I will be sending 2 quilts of to my LAQ, and another project will be heading to a new home at a friends house.

Two finishes for me…

I have two finished projects, small ones but finishes none the less.

A wheat bag for Layne (my nephews partner) who is due to have their bubby this month. Her midwife told her a wheat pack will help with her discomfort. So I whipped one up…

And…

a draught stopper…

100_6247 (708 x 532)

I am still waiting patiently for nice weather to photograph my Sudoku quilt. But in the meantime can you help me think of a name for it, there might even be a little giveaway of my leftover scraps for the right name…

Here’s another peek…

and another…

Percy Pukeko…

Yesterday at our weekly homeschooling outing, a family brought a baby Pukeko along that they had rescued…

SDC12235 (768 x 576) Just look at the size of those feet!

On our way home we stopped to take some photo’s of the swollen rivers from all the rain…

SDC12240 (768 x 576)

SDC12242 (768 x 576)

SDC12246 (768 x 576)

This river had burst it’s bank and was flowing through a paddock. I am pleased we took the 4 wheel drive as at one stage we had to drive through a river that was flowing across the road!

Today I visited Ethel Anne…

100_6244 (708 x 532)Can you see the little cabinet in the door way with the yellow tin in front of it? Well it’s no longer there, because today it came home with me! I will let it sit for a few days until I decide where I want to put it. I am thinking of giving it a little shabby makeover, it will be perfect for displaying mini quilts.

And I also put a little something aside for ________ for Christmas, I know she is going to adore them…

100_6246 (708 x 532)Purple pansies are one of her favourite flowers!

Don’t worry I’m sure she doesn’t read my blog! But just in case I’ll leave her name blank. Lol.

Tomorrow is supposed to be fine, maybe I can finally get a good photo of my Sudoku quilt, but until then here’s a little close up of the quilting…

100_6243 (708 x 532)

That’s my girl…

DD1 stitched this heart and used her special pencils(the ones Bec bought for her) to make another hacky sack…

Waitomo Caves School Camp

A walk through native bush… 101_6153DSCF7241 101_6160 Limestone cave…101_6161

The spiral path taking us underground…101_6199 (708 x 532) 101_6182 (708 x 532) Stalactites…101_6191 (708 x 532) Stalagmites…101_6194 (708 x 532)It was a very other worldly experience, it was rather hard to comprehend the above photo’s took millions of years to evolve. If you ever get the chance, make sure you visit, you won’t regret it! You can also go black water rafting, visit the museum, horse trekking and more.

For a little fibre fix we visited ‘the Shearing Shed’ home to German bred Angora rabbits…

DSCF7299 (200 x 150)

I didn’t like the way they stretched the rabbit out to be shorn, though they assured us the contraption was SPCA approved and the rabbits were used to it!

I really wanted to take this oh so soft scarf home…

101_6201 (532 x 708)

And this gorgeous poncho…

101_6207 (532 x 708)

I won’t tell you how much they cost but I’m pretty sure my Visa would decline!

My Girl…

SDC12212My baby turns 10 today! We celebrated yesterday with friends and family, and lots and lots of food! Here’s a picture of her being goofy…

SDC12224

She is such a joy and a blessing to our family.

We love you lots Olivia!

Spring is sprung…

Yesterday was the first day of spring, the promise of new life…

101_6143 (532 x 708)

Notice the Daisy Do BOM on my sidebar, well today the 3rd block came out and I have yet to complete block one!

I was being held back because I just couldn’t decide what fabric to use until I saw this the other day and just knew…

101_6137 (708 x 532) Block one and two are prepped and ready to be stitched!
