I thoroughly enjoyed my day at TPQ but unfortunately I only got two photos. TPQ is a regional day which means quilt groups from around Taranaki join together for a fun day out! Stratford hosted the day this time and we were treated to a dazzling display of bags. Sorry these photos just don't do them justice and this was only half of them.

Grandmothers Garden was in attendance also and this is what I bought...

And this is what I have been working on...

Can you see that lovely old Telephone table in the corner? Well it once belonged to DH Nana and it had been offered to DH by his Mum and Dad and then he neglected to tell me! Anyway he eventually told me and I said yes please, I have just the spot;) You see I needed something to put beside our sofa to sit my books on or my stitching or a cuppa, you get the picture...

I now have plans to make an oval table runner, not quite sure how or what yet though. Perhaps one made out of yoyo's? Any idea's? Anyone made an oval table runner before? Just looking at the table runner on the back of the sofa, maybe I might make one out of hexagons!

We have had very cold weather here in Taranaki, we have a mountain right in the middle and are mainly surrounded by coastline. We get snow every couple of years in outlying districts but it's still Autumn or it's supposed to be!

I am off to TPQ(Taranaki Patchwork and Quilting) tomorrow, for a fun day of stitching, laughing, eating and shopping cant wait... I'll try to remember my camera!

Brrrrr It's cold

It definitely feels like winter today, it's cold(must be snowing up the mountain) the south winds are blowing, the rain is bucketing down and DH is out feeding his cows! Just makes me cold thinking about it;) Anyway look at the flimsy I finished last night, its a baby quilt for a friend in the South Island, I had been saving the fabric for something special...

Here's a closeup of the fabric...

I even have enough left to make a miniature quilt for my teddy ladder...

While taking a picture of my antique ladder I thought I would show you a wallhanging a friend made for me for Christmas a couple of years ago.

I have also finished this stitchery, it will be made into a cushion for my DMIL for her birthday in August... it's safe to show on here, she's not into blogging!

It is a Rosalie Quinlan design and I added the words, hope she'll like it.

A busy weekend...

DH is youth leader for our church, and the youth have been busy organising a Parents Dinner.
I wasn't allowed to help, so I spent the day with Jesse and Olivia (my youngest two) we drove to New Plymouth to visit my Mum . We had a great day, we went shopping for a new sewing machine for Mum we got a great deal... she has to wait though to pick it up hopefully by the end of the week.
While there I had to do a little fabric shopping, couldn't drive all that way and buy none now could I?The Thimbleberries fabric is going into the border on my cat quilt. The top fabric is for a future project.
We met up with a friend of Mum's, had lunch at the beach, drank hot chocolates at BB's before going back to Mum's. We went for a walk, the kids on their roller blades, then it was time for me to have a shower and scrub up for the Parents Dinner!
Sorry I didn't get many pictures at all, too busy talking! But didn't they set the tables lovely!
We had pumpkin soup for starters, Dauphine potatoes, boneless paprika chicken thighs, and julienne vegetables and for dessert we had chocolate mud cake, chocolate sauce and chantilly cream. It is so nice to have someone else cook for you...
They also showed a presentation for the parents to share some of the activities they have done in the last four years. At the end though was an extra surprise for DH and myself one we were definitely not expecting. They made us both come up the front and presented us with these...

Talk about spoilt...obviously I got the flowers. The cup says Best Youth Leader Ever, Stefan Singfield, 2009. And the youth know him so well they bought him 4 bags of lollies;)

I have found a pattern for a scrap quilt that I just have to make!

These are some of the fabrics I am using

I have been wanting to make a scrap quilt using the starters and enders method for quite some time so this will be a continuous WIP.

Our latest addtion

This week has gone past so quickly, here a few of the highlights...

We had a visiting minister and his family stay for the weekend...
Monday night I went to our local quilt shop for our weekly stitch and chat evening, one of the ladies(Angela) and her husband own a catering business and she bought this huge pavalova for supper Yummy!!
Last night we had some youth from church come around to finish a presentation they are doing for a parents dinner on Saturday night...

Now come and meet the newest addition to our household

We actually have another 12 chicks, but for some reason Mummy chook didnt want this one so my daughter is being a surrogate mum.

Here's Tweety checking out my Chick Tac Toe, do you think she/he might give me a game later... I will have to hurry up and finish the sewing the eggs first though!!

This is a picture of Georgie(my daughters cat) snug and warm under a quilt my 8 year old made, with a little help from mum of course. Bit hard to see, will have to take a better picture.

Another school mum and I have organised a Fashion Show as a school fundraiser at a local shop for tonight, and there are supper preparations to be done. Looking forward to a fun evening!

This is what I'm working on.....

This is a project I am working on at the moment for my favourite local patchwork shop, it will be a class in the near future. I am still writing out the pattern for them, I kinda need to get a move on with them, so hopefully posting them on here will be the boost I need to finish them.

The colours for the orange and green one was chosen by my daughter Ruth, can you guess what her favourite colour is!

And this is what is on my design wall

DH wanted a quilt just for him to keep him warm over winter especially when he is at the computer so I started this small lap quilt last winter:) Anyways I had so much fabric left I decided to make 2 of each cat, then I decided why not make twin quilts one for him and one for me! I have sewn them in mirror image rather than have two the same.

This is one of my latest purchases isn't it sweet and also big enough to hide two jellyrolls!

My very first post

Welcome to my blog.... I am looking forward to this journey, to share my quilting with bits and pieces of life thrown in, and to meet new friends!
