Blessings...

The boys are back!!! They had a great time at camp, but I think they will enjoy sleeping in their own beds tonight.  They also brought back loads and loads of washing... sigh! Such is life.  Hubby and I visited some gardens this morning, and I left the camera sitting alone on the kitchen table.  So instead here are another couple of photos from the Quilt Show...

They are from the Breast of Friends BOM in the Homespun Magazine, the finished quilt looked lovely and I really like the fabrics she chose!
Now silly me said in my last post that I only had 2 posts left to do, well I forgot to include that post! So that means this must be my last post which takes me up to a grand total of 12 for this month(patting myself on the back)
Oh and I just wanted to share this little story of goodwill... It starts a week ago when DS1 left his school bag at school. During the weekend we were driving past school and noticed one of the teachers there so decided to go in and collect his bag.  What we found was rather disheartening, someone had ransacked his bag, stuff was everywhere and there on the mat was his shiny new glasses, screwed up in to a tight little bundle:o((( I mean who would do a thing like that!  Anyway we took his glasses into the optometrists who were absolutely fabulous.  They gave us the same frames as we had originally(the lenses were fine) and  only charged us $50!!!  We should have paid about $280!!!  We are really counting  are blessings this week:oD I quite often think we take a lot for granted, how have you been blessed this week?

Sniff, sniff, snuffle...

I am feeling like the weather, bleak and miserable today, thankfully the trip to Pioneer Village was postponed until Monday(sigh).  A good day to start another new project, Lol!  I have had an idea perculating in my mind for a wee while now, don't you just like that word 'perculating' well it has slowly progressed from the drawing stage to buying the fabric stage... exciting! Today auditioning fabrics at Cinnamon Lodge, Claire said if I make up a pattern of it she will sell it in her shop! I haven't even started sewing it yet! So I am even more excited to get started on it.  Sorry no photos not even a sneak peak yet...  But I can show you a photo of the borders going on my scrap quilt, I know I can hear some of you thinking 'finally'...

In anticipation for the Garden Festival that starts tomorrow I thought I would share a couple of photo's from my garden, I tried to miss the weeds Lol!

And what is this doing in my garden?  What is it?  What am I going to do with it? Well for now it is hiding weeds!
Two more posts to go...

A weeding I shall go...

Today was spent in the vege garden. I didn't take any before photo's(too embarassing!)but here is an after shot...

On the left I have an abundance of parsley, then a row of carrots, silverbeet and cabbages. On the other side of the garden we have another row of cabbages, runner beans, garlic, silverbeet, lettuces, potatoes and rhubarb! I must remember to buy some zuchini too.
Tomorrow I am taking transport for a school trip. The junior class are going to Pioneer Village, I haven't been there for years. Note to self: Don't forget the camera!

RAK...

I have been stitching up a storm, sort of, I've been stitching while the storm rages outside.  The DNP is finally a quilt top Yay! An old scrappy UFO is auditioning borders on my design wall. And I have finished another block in Gail Pans Christmas BOM and started another one.
I farwelled my boys this morning, they are off on a school camp until Friday, do you know how quiet my house is gonna be? I will miss them, but it will be nice to just spend some time with the girls!
Just a short post today, as I'm off to deliver a RAK to a friend in need...

Quilt Exhibition

Olivia(DD2) was my photograher(in training) for me yesterday at the quilt show. So here are a few of my favourites...

But I was in for a surprise as we wandered the aisles!  Remember a few posts ago the quilt I made for Claire @ Cinnamon Lodge...

Well woe and betide if it wasn't hanging there with all the other lovely quilts on display!  Claire had entered me as a first time exhibitor, I had no idea! Imagine my surprise to see my name staring back at me!

So until tomorrow heres another photo of the quilt...

Yesterday's Post Today...

I had the best of intentions to post yesterday but it just wasn't to be. My excuse is I wasn't home to do one. But I shall make up for it today. You see yesterday the kids and I packed up a picnic lunch and headed for the city...  We visited a car show for the boys had morning tea at the park, went clothes shopping for the kids, had a picnic lunch at the beach, went for a stroll along the walkway and then..... We went to TPQ's yearly quilt show! (Photo's to come and a surprise for me!) After that we had a birthday party potluck tea for one of the boys friend. We had a wonderful evening, and the sun blessed us with it's presence all day! So by the time we got home we were all so worn out that we went straight to bed! I am having trouble with the camera again so I will post this afternoon when hubby's home to help, right now I better go get ready for church...

Pig Tits and Parsley Sauce

I know what you're thinking... 'Huh? Pig tits and parsley sauce' has this women gone mad!
No I haven't gone mad... well maybe a little;o) DH would say I was crazy a long time ago, and I would reply 'Yep I had to be to marry you' Lol. Anyway enough bantering with myself! I guess you're still wondering about the title... Well it has a little to do with my last post, What is your favourite quote? Did your mother used to have weird sayings? The title to this post was used by our guest speaker last weekend at TPQ, a quote her mother used to use! Instead of me telling her story though I thought I'd share a link to her website...

http://pigtitsandparsleysauce.co.nz/about/

She was a very entertaining speaker, and an amazing women, as well as running this new unexpected business she sharemilks and has her own AB run, I feel worn out just thinking about it! But I like the concept, if I can spend less on the groceries it means I can spend more on fabric.  Unfortunately I think my family will think me well and truly mad, if I make them baking soda toothpaste!

Golly Gosh

Have I really only posted 3 times so far this month? That's shocking!!! If you take a closer look on my side bar at the amount of times I've posted each month you will notice a rising trend;o)  And no I didn't do it on purpose, (well except for last month*grin*) But as for this month I'm not entirely sure what happened! So I plan to rectify that. So let's see I need to post another 9 times before the end of the month, hmm.... there are only nine days left, so one post everyday til the end of the month, can I do it? Time will tell.  Ok moving on...
I thought I would share a picture of my almost finished DNP, I haven't sewn the borders on yet. This has been on my design wall for weeks, I just couldn't seem to find a pleasing arrangement and it was really starting to bug me! A couple of friends came to my rescue and this is what we ended up with...

It isn't perfect but I'm happy, there is a mistake that I didn't notice until it was all sewn up and the first border added, but I'm not going to unpick it. Can you see it?  Hmm maybe not... I'm having camera issues at the moment so please bear with me:o) as well as teenager issues but that is another story!
The other day I just happened across this gorgeous clock, and I knew I had the perfect spot for it so it came home with me...

I googled the title for my blog to see what it means, and came up with this...

Golly Whoppers

An exclamation of shock or surprise. Similar to "Golly Gosh" or "Oh my days".

'Oh my days!' I like it! Haven't heard that expression before, and I'm sure there are many others out there I haven't heard before.  What's you're favourite?

Well that's one post down only eight to go...

Shop Sampler...

Earlier this year I made a jellyroll quilt as a shop sampler for my friend Claire @ 'Cinnamon Lodge' Dontcha just love the name! Her shop always smells divine, even some of the fabric I've bought has a lovely aroma, Mmmmm! anyway I digress... The said quilt is now back from the longarmer, and the quilting is just gorgeous:oD So without any further ado...
Unfortunately the photo just doesn't show up the colours very well:(

Some closeups...

A closer closeup...
Hmm the photos really didn't come out as well as I would have liked to show off the quilting, but if you click on them hopefully you can enlarge them and get a closer look!
I am really really happy with the way this quilt turned out, I was a bit nervous making something that everyone will stare at Lol!
I have also been thinking about doing another tutorial, since Christmas is on the way I thought I would share a little Christmas decoration I hang on the tree. I usually make new ones each year as I end up giving one to each visitor that comes, Lol! I am making some for a Christmas swap I am in so if anyone is interested, I will take photos as I go!
We had TPQ (Taranaki Patchwork and Quilting) yesterday. Mum and I went together and she was lucky enough to win a raffle!
Well school starts back again tomorrow and guess what after 2 weeks of miserably wet, cold weather the sun is shining;-) Look out garden here I come...
