Seeing Double…

DSC_0151 (600 x 400)

Finally I have some photo’s to share of my latest quilts! I started these quilts sew long ago it is almost embarrassing;o) DH had requested a quilt to drape over his knees when we were in our old house to keep off the winter chills while sitting at the computer(We lived in a very large country homestead at the time). And I did start it straight away, he chose the fabrics I chose the pattern and somewhere along the way I decided to make one for me as well Open-mouthed smile but in mirror image, I love the way they have turned out!

DSC_0153 (600 x 400)

DH quilt now graces the back of his chair in the lounge, since we shifted into a much smaller well insulated house he no longer really needs one Lol! But at least he can’t say I haven’t made him one.

DSC_0156 (600 x 400)

The photo’s were taken at a lovely little local park, where we had lunch and feed the ducks…

DSC_0143 (600 x 400)

There were even a few Canadian geese, maybe this is a stopover on the way back to Canada for the summer! This goose was really quite friendly and would honk at us as if he was talking and bob his head up and down, he would also eat out of our hands.

DSC_0161 (400 x 600)

Not the best photo but DH got to play with his new toy at the park too!

DSC_0130 (400 x 600)

There that’s a better photo, its called a honeybee and it is not very easy to fly, I’m not sure if I’ll be allowed another turn any time soon;o}

It could turn out to be quite an expensive hobby, not that I am complaining at all, it just means I wont feel quite sew guilty about my hobby, Lol.

DSC_0159 (600 x 400)

Back to the quilts, for the quilting I chose a paw print and different colour thread on each quilt(sew we can tell them apart).

DSC_0193 (600 x 400)

Sew there you go His and Hers quilts! Lol

Now to decide which UFO to tackle next…

Wishing you a wonderful weekend…

Tomorrow I hope to go on a little photo shoot at a local park to photograph my latest quilts, providing the weather co-operates that is! It is very wet and blustery outside tonight, we have had a fair bit of rain over the weekend and while it’s been good weather to sit and stitch my Tis The Season blocks I’d like the sun to come back again!

Hope you’ve all had a wonderful weekend!

(spot the birdie)

Yesterday I had the privilege of playing host to Claire and Michelle for our monthly quilting day! Jacqui from Magpie Chic (another local blogger I have been following for a while) joined us, it was the first time I have met her and she is even lovelier in person, you really must go over and check out her beautiful blog!

Claire surprised us big time with the amount of finishes she had this month, just look at them all…

clairesfinishes

Pretty Impressive huh?

And Michelle brought along her gorgeous cushion, it looked really fabulous on my sofa, Lol

DSC_0064 (600 x 400)

I think I will have to make one too, I’ll just add it to my list ;o) Michelle has been working her way through Tis the Season (sorry no photo’s, yet!) I am pleased to say I have started too, not sure that I will be able to keep up with these girls they are speedy!

I forgot to take photo’s of my show and tell, so I will share those in another post;o)

I can share some of the goodies that have been arriving in the mail though, it’s been a good weekOpen-mouthed smile (Do you like my smiley face, not sure how I did that, Lol) Anyway…

DSC_0085 (400 x 600)

4 Schnibbles patterns from Miss Rosie’s Quilt Co. Not sure which one I want to make first!

DSC_0084 (400 x 600)

I have been eyeing this book up for a while now, The Civil War Sewing Circle by Kathleen Tracy. Not only has it got beautiful quilts to make but it also tells a story, with excerpts from letters written during the civil war.

DSC_0076 (400 x 600)

And a Tilda’s Christmas book! It has some beautiful projects, ideas for cards and boxes lovely dolls, and (are you sitting down Michelle? I know you are going to want to make one of these;o)…

iceskates

And maybe a couple of these little fellows…

I also have a couple of other books arriving in the next day or so (can’t quite remember what I ordered now, Lol I guess I’ll surprise myself!)

If you are wondering where I’ve been shopping it’s here at The Book Depository they have a huge selection and they have free worldwide delivery! You might just want to go and make yourself another cuppa before you pop over to have a look!

A little squeal of delight…

Before I share with you what my little squeal of delight is all about, here is some quick highlights from the weekend…

DSC_0027 (600 x 400)

Just for my son (who shall remain nameless), we awoke very early Saturday morning and drove for an hour to reach these waves which were pumping! (Is that the right terminology;o) Only to find when we arrived there he had forgotten to pack his wetsuit and towel! LOL   So DD2(Lolly) and I left him to sit and watch while we went for an early morning walk along the foreshore. Then we drove around the coast a wee bit more for a birthday party!

DSC_0049 (600 x 400)

I ate way too much food! This was the kids table the adults food was behind me filled with lots of yummy treats too! And that was just morning tea, the hostess had also prepared lunch for everybody! Just as well I had been for a walk ;oD

And you needn’t feel sorry for the young man who didn’t get to surf as his father decided the surf was too good to stay at home so he ended up meeting us and they both went together. ;o)

DSC_0063 (600 x 400)

Ok my little squeal of delight actually arrived on  Friday but I didn’t get around to taking photo’s until this morning! Can you guess what it is?

DSC_0059 (400 x 600)

It’s my hutch dresser! ‘insert squeal here’

Unfortunately this is the only place it can go, but it fits perfectly! I had originally planned to paint it myself but it was a bigger job than I had time for so we ended up getting someone to do it for us. And they have done a fabulous job…

DSC_0069 (600 x 400)

I love the chook mesh cupboards…

DSC_0062 (400 x 600)

We like that we kept the original handles.

DSC_0071 (600 x 400)

I have started to fill the cupboards with my Maxwell and Williams dinner set…

DSC_0072 (400 x 600)

It will mean I have more space in my kitchen cupboards too! There will be more photo’s once I have finished decorating and re-arranging everything;o)

You may have noticed I skipped Sunday altogether, well I can assure you it wasn’t worth mentioning. It wasn’t the best day I have ever had, you know sometimes stuff happens and you feel like someone’s knocked the wind out of your sails, one of those days! Today though I am picking myself back up, I am going to play with my new hutch dresser, I am going to go out and meet a new home schooling Mum for a coffee and tonight I am going to my quilting group for a bit of stitching! Sounds like a good plan to me!

Have a great day…
